At this time of year, what could possibly be on people’s minds more than gift-giving? Christmas is just days away, and for many of us, the gifts have already been bought and wrapped. But it’s important to remember that not everyone has the means to buy presents, much less a tree for decorating. We should not forget about the poor among us, even as we enjoy our individual blessings.

Since 1987, a local non-profit called Madonna House has been attending to the needs of poor women and children in Neptune and surrounding communities. As part of their mission to help the poor, Madonna House provides children with “clothing, juvenile furniture, toys, infant formula, diapers, small household items, and other necessary items, completely free of charge.”

As they say in their organization’s mission statement, “For many women the decision to give life and raise their child means a life of poverty. Madonna house is unique in our approach to helping others because of our total commitment and respect for all human life.”

Madonna House is a tax-deductible organization that carries its mission out thanks to the private donations it receives. Do you have the means to help such an important organization like this one? Consider giving to Madonna House this Christmas season. Giving to others is important, but especially at this time of year.

Visit the Madonna House’s website for more information, including information on when they accept clothing donations.
